Eobard Thawne lived during the 22nd century. Thawne became obsessed with the Flash and replicated the accident that allowed him to tap into the Speed Force, instead tapping into the Negative Speed Force and becoming the criminal known as the Reverse-Flash. After discovering the secret identity of the Flash, Eobard traveled back in time to kill Barry as a child. He couldn't and instead killed Nora Allen. Later, Eobard killed Harrison Wells and stole his identity to make Barry get faster so he can return back to his time.

Eobard's most prominent trait is his obssession and hatred of the Flash. After spending years researching him and finding a way to duplicate the reaction that gave him his powers, he learned of his fate. Upon learning that he was to be the Flash's greatest enemy, he became the opposite of everything the Flash stood for, solidifying himself as his archnemesis in an effort to prove that he was better than the Scarlet Speedster.
