James Bartholomew "Jimmy" Olsen is a photographer at The Daily Planet.
Biography[]
All-Star Superman[]
Jimmy Olsen got involved in Lois Lane and Steve Lombard's conversation about Superman saving the sun, he was inexplicably dressed as a woman when he entered and told Lois the approximate size of the sun. He then attended Perry White's meeting about having finally been able to prove Lex Luthor was no good.
After Superman had given Lois his abilities for 24 hours, Jimmy activated his signal watch to alert Superman to the Subterranosauri invasion in Metropolis.
After Superman had left Earth for two months to rehome the Bottle City of Kandor, Jimmy was wearing underpants and a belt over his trousers claiming it to be the height of Kryptonian fashion. Bar-El and Lilo tracked Superman to the Daily Planet and Clark pulled Jimmy aside, telling him to call Superman.
After Lex Luthor had cheated death and unleashed Solaris on the sun, Superman defeated Solaris and, as Clark Kent, rushed into the Planet with a breaking story claiming he witnessed Superman die before collapsing himself. Lex then attacked the Planet and destroyed Jimmy's signal watch with a blast of heat vision. Clark got to his feet and battled Lex as Superman.
Lois, Perry and Jimmy were rounded up by Nasty Luthor but convinced her not to kill them by taking photos and promising to write a news story on her.
After Superman's apparent death, Jimmy met up with Lois in a park next to a Superman statue and asked if she was going to speak at Superman's memorial service. Lois replied that Superman wasn't dead, he was just fixing the sun and when he had finished he'd return to Earth.
