- Harris Dickinson, Wolfgang Novogratz, Andrew Richardson and Pierson Fode were all considered for the role of Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman.
- Jacob Elordi claimed to have turned down the role, seeing it as "too dark".[1]
- Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney both screen-tested for the role.[2] The former would later be cast as Lex Luthor.
- David Corenswet previously stated in 2019 that he wanted to play Superman.[3]

- Similar to Christopher Reeve, David Corenswet studied acting at Juilliard in New York City.[4]
- David Corenswet is 6' 4", making him the tallest actor to play Superman, tied with Christopher Reeve.
