Clark Kent is the adopted son of Jonathan and Martha Kent. Born Kal-El on Krypton, he was sent to Earth before his home's destruction and gained super powers as a result of his alien biology's reactions to Earth's yellow sun. He took on the name Superman and became one of Earth's heroes.

Kryptonian Physiology: As a Kryptonian, Superman's alien body adapted to Earth's atmosphere and gravity and absorbed the yellow radiation emitted by the sun, this process of adaption granted him superhuman physical attributes.

Behind the scenes[]

Harris Dickinson, Wolfgang Novogratz, Andrew Richardson and Pierson Fode were all considered for the role of Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman.
Jacob Elordi claimed to have turned down the role, seeing it as "too dark".^[1]
Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney both screen-tested for the role.^[2] The former would later be cast as Lex Luthor.
David Corenswet previously stated in 2019 that he wanted to play Superman.^[3]

Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman in the DC Universe is the twelfth live-action incarnation of the character, following incarnations portrayed by Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Johnny Rockwell, David Wilson, Christopher Reeve, John Haymes Newton, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill, and Tyler Hoechlin.
Similar to Christopher Reeve, David Corenswet studied acting at Juilliard in New York City.^[4]
David Corenswet is 6' 4", making him the tallest actor to play Superman, tied with Christopher Reeve.
