Kal-El is the last son of Krypton, when his father, Jor-El, realized that his planet was doomed, he and his wife Lara sent Kal to Earth, where he would be found by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who named him Clark Kent. Using his powers, he defends the good citizens of Metropolis from threats like criminals, particularly, Lex Luthor and Dru-Zod; Clark would then become the superhero known as Superman.
Biography[]
Kal-El shared the history of his Donnerverse counterpart up until the finale of Superman II.

Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Kryptonian Physiology
Weaknesses[]
- Kryptonite: Kryptonite is a green ore form of a radioactive element from Superman's home planet of Krypton; in it's gassy form it can temporarily suppress his superhuman physical attributes, making him equivalent to that of a normal human, in it's natural form, kryptonite can cause Superman somewhat fever-like, including nausea, weakness, dizziness, vertigo, fatigue, immense amounts of pain and loss (or near loss) of consciousness. Wounds inflicted on Superman by kryptonite do not disappear when it leaves his presence, and only direct exposure to sunlight can instantly allow Superman to recover completely from it's damaging effects and these otherwise incurable wounds.
- Lead: Even with Superman's X-ray vision; he cannot see through lead.
- Beings of Exceptional Powers: Only super-powered individuals who are equal or superior to Superman's level of power, can bypass his durability; as they can potentially injure or even kill him. As Zod, Ursa, and Non were all capable of bypassing Superman's durability, due to also being Kryptonians.

Trivia[]
- Superman '78 and The Metal Curtain ignore the events of Superman III, Supergirl, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and Superman Returns, instead the comics follow the theatrical cut of the second movie. This continuity reimagines the sequels as though Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve had continued.
- In the original script for Superman III, Superman was going to battle Brainiac. This was eventually dropped as the script was completely rewritten, Superman '78 marks the first time that Christopher Reeve's Superman faced the iconic foe.[1]
