Kryptonians are a race of beings from the planet Krypton. They were wiped out when Krypton was destroyed. Only a few Kryptonians are left alive.

History[]

Superman: The Movie[]

The Kryptonians' home planet Krypton was destroyed by its exploding red supergiant sun. A member of the high council, Jor-El, warned the council of the planet's destruction, but was ignored. Jor-El and his wife Lara sent their baby son Kal-El to Earth. Due to his unique physiology grants him evolving superhuman abilities, Kal-El later grew up to be known as the hero Superman. Kal-El believed that he was the last survivor of the species, this was not true however.

Jor-El packed a crystal into Kal-El's space pod, this crystal created the Fortress of Solitude. There Superman learned of his Kryptonian heritage through Jor-El's teachings which were implanted into the Fortress. Kal-El was nearly killed by Lex Luthor, after he found Kryptonite, a radioactive rock that strips a Kryptonian of his or her powers. He was then saved by Luthor's ally Eve Teschmacher, and then proceeded to stop Luthor's evil plan.

Superman II[]

Back before Krypton had exploded, the planet's notorious criminals Zod, Ursa and Non were imprisoned into the Phantom Zone. Years later, it was shattered near Earth by the shockwave of a hydrogen bomb, thrown from Earth by Superman. The three villains were freed and found themselves with the same superpowers granted by the yellow light of the Sun. After landing on the Moon and effortlessly killing astronauts exploring, they continue toward Earth with plans to conquer the planet.

Superman initially got rid of his powers and became human, however later when he found out that the villains began to conquer the world, he regained his powers. Eventually he defeated the villains, by taking away their powers using the same way he used on himself before. The three villains presumably died by falling into the crevices of the Fortress.

Donner Cut Alterations[]

In this version, the missile that Superman threw into space broke the Phantom Zone instead. Superman later destroyed the Fortress of Solitude and flew around the Earth which caused the three villains to go back into the Phantom Zone.

Superman III[]

Superman continued to save humans on a daily basis around the Earth. When Ross Webster ordered Gus Gorman to use a satellite to destroy Columbia with a tornado, Superman put a stop to it. The industrialist then ordered Gus to create Kryptonite to kill Superman, however Gus created it wrong and Superman didn't die. Despite that it still had an effect on him eventually turning him evil. Later he got split into two people, his already evil self and a human Clark Kent. They battled in a construction site, with the human Clark later winning and regaining control of his Kryptonian self.

Supergirl[]

Kal-El's cousin and Jor-El's niece, Kara Zor-El lived in Argo City with her parents Zor-El and Alura In-Ze. Which was an isolated community that survived Krypton's destruction by being transported into a pocket of trans-dimensional space, called the "Innerspace." The wizard Zaltar allowed Kara to observe a unique and powerful item known as the "Omegahedron". Later a mishap leads to the Omegahedron being rocketed into space. Taking a ship, Kara followed the the item to Earth to recover it and save the city.

Kara arrived on Earth and was granted the same powers by the radiation of its sun. At this point her cousin was off on a galactic peace mission, so like Kal-El, Kara became a superhero. Donning the name Supergirl, Kara saved people while also still on the trail of the Omegahedron. A magic witch by the name of Selena fell into possession of the item. She later sent Kara into the Phantom Zone, which stripped her of the Kryptonian powers from Earth. Eventually with help from Zaltar, Kara escaped and later defeated Selena.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace[]

The world later called Superman to get rid of the world's nuclear weapons. A plea which he accepted, although little did he or anyone know, Lex Luthor used a piece of Superman's air to create Nuclear Man from the nuclear weapons. With a radioactive part-Kryptonian villain on the loose, Superman eventually took out the destructive foe.

The Flash[]

When the multiverse began to implode, Earth's two Kryptonians, Kal-El and Kara Zor-El together witnessed the actions of Barry Allen.
