Mary McGinnis is the mother of Terry McGinnis, the second Batman. She's been taking care of her two sons, Terry and Matt, since her husband, Warren's, death.

Sometime after Matt's birth, Mary and Warren divorced. Mary kept custody of Matt, but Terry moved in with Warren. When Warren was murdered, purportedly by a gang of Jokerz, Terry moved back in with Mary and Matt. Mary did her best to reassure Terry that Warren's death was not his fault.
Soon after Terry's return to Mary's home, Bruce Wayne arrived offering Terry a job as his personal assistant. Initially, Mary was enthusiastic about her son working for Bruce.
