The birth of the Multiverse in the Arrowverse.

Multiverse (DC Extended Universe)

The battle between The Flash and his alternate counterparts eventually broke the Multiverse in the DC Extended Universe.

"In the beginning there was only one. A single black infinitude. Then the infinitude found release, and, finally, the darkness broke, filling it with life... With the multiverse. Every existence multiplied by possibility. And spread out before space and time in infinite measure. Civilizations rose and fell. And rose again across reality's grasping expanse. Life. A precious gift persevering in the face of every obstacle, until, finally, the age of heroes was born."

The Multiverse is the set of all known universes in the reality. Every Earth in the multiverse vibrate at its own frequency that separates one world from the other, and they also feature different counterparts (also known as doppelgangers) to other worlds' individuals.

History[]

"What you did was you changed the future and you changed the past. If a person is stupid enough to mess with time... what you eventually end up with is this. The multiverse. Some strands run almost parallel. There will be inevitable intersections, and others that are just... wildly divergent. What it is... is a hot mess. It's a crapshoot. It's all just a crapshoot."

Behind the scenes[]

  • The concept of the DC Multiverse was loosely established during the Golden Age of Comic Books in 1940. With the publication of All-Star Comics #3, began the first crossovers between characters, occuring with the creation of the first JSA. Later, Wonder Woman #59 presented DC Comics' first story depicting an alternate Mirror Dimension in May 1953.
