The Mutant Leader was the leader of the street gang known as The Mutants.
Biography[]
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1[]
The Mutant Leader broadcast a message on air stating that the Mutants would kill James Gordon and that he himself would kill Batman.
The Mutant Leader rallied his gang but was interrupted by the arrival of Batman and Carrie Kelley dressed as Robin. The pair of them dispatched many of the gang and then Batman, taunted by the Leader, fought him in hand-to-hand combat. Both fought viciously but the Mutant Leader was stronger and younger and got the upper hand. He began beating Batman with a crowbar until Carrie Kelley jumped onto his back and distracted him long enough for Batman to fire some gel at his face, it dried and suffocated the Leader into unconsciousness.
The Mutant Leader was arrested and placed into custody but assured the public that his army would come for him and kill Gordon. The Mayor arranged to meet with the Mutant Leader to try and resolve the conflict. Within seconds of being in the room together, the Mutant Leader killed the Mayor with ease.
Returned to his cell, the Mutant Leader was constantly guarded from then on until Gordon relieved Thompson of duty and left the Mutant Leader in his cell alone. It opened and the Mutant Leader escaped through the vents, coming out of the pipe and seeing his followers gathered. Batman took him by surprise and tackled him into the mud. They engaged in another intense hand-to-hand fight. Batman overpowered and defeated the Mutant Leader causing the Mutants to disband and doubt their once powerful leader.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2[]
The Mutant Leader's defeat at the hands of Batman was mentioned by Anchor Bill after a splinter group of the Mutants, the Sons of the Batman, began to become increasingly violent against criminals.
